These yellow lentils are very similar in texture and taste to Masoor Dal. They’re sweet and nutty with a beautifully warm, yellow color. Chana Dal is paired excellently with jeera rice or garam masala rice. Once cooked through, Chana Dal goes down smooth with plenty of nutrients. Chana Dal goes great with tomato, garlic, ginger, and spices and a tempering cumin seeds will seal the deal to create a flavorful, bright dish. As a side, these yellow lentils are perfect for flatbreads or any cooked grains and veggies! Like Masoor Dal, Chana Dal takes around 30 minutes to soften and cook through, so they’re still a great way to cook up a quick meal that’s delicious and simple.
