The Story

Details

This exotic extract comes from the spongy centers of tropical palm stems. Commonly known as saksak, rabia or sagu, Sago’s a staple of Southeastern Asian cuisine. Sago can be easily rolled into balls, mixed with water to form papeda, or it can even be made a pancake for snacking. Although a starch, Sago is easily digested, making it great on its own or within any of its signature dishes. Sago’s flavor can be compared to tapioca, although it is considered subtler and more delicate in its notes and character. Mix with milk, cream, and eggs to make a simple but delicious pudding!
